John Baird’s Golden Shower

Baird's golden showerJohn Baird’s golden shower exchange aired on CBC this evening. Liberal MP Scott Brison questioned Baird’s contravention of Treasury board rules when Baird had business cards made that were gold embossed and had the standard design word “Canada” removed. Baird laughed it off as an insignificant $400, while also laughing anew over the $50 million misappropriated for Treasury Board President Tony Clement’s use in his riding.

What Baird seems to miss is that it is not the dollar value that is the issue. $50 million or $400, the issues are the display of disdain for taxpayers and Baird’s attitude that he is above any rules.

The really sad thing for taxpayers is that Baird is right. So long as Stephen Harper is Prime Minister, Baird and others of Harpers circle are above any rules.

The Conservative government was found in contempt of parliament before the election. Now that they have their majority of 39% the contempt continues. I hope it grows. We don’t need any more incidents like this to convince this voter that there is a bad bunch in Ottawa. I just hope that enough of the 39% also tire of the contempt and get on side to give this bad bunch the golden handshake next time.

Keep laughing Mr. Baird. Please.
