Attawapiskat

Attawapiskat on mapWhen I first heard of Attawapiskat, one of my thoughts was “Why don’t they cut some logs and build log cabins?” I’ve known people who have done that in Northern BC and made quite comfortable homes.

Turns out that with the reserve system the surrounding forest is Crown land. The people of Attawapiskat are not allowed to cut logs, nor to mill them if they did.
